Trends in Newport Beach Coastal Kitchen Design…I am a firm believer that you don’t have to live on the water to love the look and feel of coastal decor. Now don’t get me wrong if your are hundreds of miles from the beach or water it may seem out of place, but I believe that a well designed home that makes you feel good works wherever it is located.
Now homes right on the beach such as Newport Beach, or Corona del Mar will naturally have a coastal feel to them just by the fact that they are on the Coast! I think the trick is to add pieces of coastal accessories or artwork without it becoming a “theme”.
Theme design is something that usually doesn’t work, it will create a cohesive look but it won’t last and you will tire of it quickly. The trick to getting the coastal feel is using muted tones. it doesn’t have to be blue and white stripes, you can use grays, greens, corals and my favorite, turquoise! Think of the colors of beach glass and keep the tones muted.
as for kitchen design in Newport Beach, the trick is again to either use the muted tones or stick to white cabinets. White cabinets are the hottest trend right now in kitchen design. They are timeless and on point. I’m not referring to the laminated builders grade junk from the late 80’s or early 90’s, I am talking about painted white wood. Popular woods to paint are either maple or Birch as they have very little grain and the paint is much smoother.
